Truck Driver Institute is the largest independent Class A CDL truck driving school East of the Rockies. We are proud to offer our world-class training program near Lafayette, IN. Truck Driver Institute has been creating jobs in the Lafayette region since 2004. We’ve recently expanded our capabilities by relocating to an expansive, 18-acre facility complete with spacious classrooms, driving ranges, and workshops.

At Truck Driver Institute, we believe the best way to learn is by applying knowledge, which is why our coursework includes both classroom and behind the wheel training. When you enroll in Truck Driver Institute’s Lafayette training program, you’ll receive a comprehensive understanding of how to operate a semi-truck. We equip you to confidently maintain driver logs, read maps, plan your trip, and perform a safety inspection of your vehicle before embarking. Once you understand how to safely operate semi-trucks, you’ll begin the hands-on portion where you will practice shifting, turning, and reversing a full-sized 18 wheeler. At the conclusion of our three-week training program, you will be prepared to take the Indiana Class A CDL License exam! To ensure your ease and convenience, we offer testing on-site in the facility you’re comfortable in.

While you’re training for your truck driving career, you’ll begin working with our placement specialists to determine your career goals and find ideal employers. Our reputation for fully equipping new drivers makes our graduates sought after by carriers across the country. We have an over 80% success rate in placing our graduates in careers they love. Our free placement services don’t end after your first job! Should you ever decide to change carriers, we continue to advocate for you by helping you find the position that meets your evolving career goals.
